Hello! I decided to learn a second language at the age of 34, and am finding it difficult to memorize vocabulary words. It takes me an embarrassing amount of time to memorize even a short list of words, and I'm hoping you can give me some pointers on how to drill the information into my head more quickly.
I tried looking at the speed learning link in the help section, as that seemed like just the thing, but I got a 404 error. I'm determined to do this, and I'm really looking forward to any tips. Thank you!
practice writting them As for memorizing hiragana, the way I did it was I first carried a key around with me that showed how they were written with correct stroke order. Then I would randomly write them all down off the top of my head, and then check the key to see if I did them correctly. I did this as I progressed through the first course, so I added hiragana over time. After about a month I memorized every hiragana, and still have them memorized without having to ever review. I don't know if this is the best way, but it worked pretty well at least for myself. As a side note, once I got to course 2 I went and learned all of the katakana on the first night because I was so confident, and, although with some difficulty remembering some every once in a while, I have the katakana memorized.
